I can’t believe that the Philippines celebrated 18 years of internet connection already. I can still remember back in 1995 when our computer at home was really new. We had Windows 95 installed and the new computer came with a modem for internet dial up connection. I remember I immediately subscribed to Virtual Asia for my monthly dial up internet connection. Of course, along with it, I became a regular user of their chat and also of mIRC, ICQ and other BBS boards. Because I loved the internet, I did my OJT (on-the-job) training in Virtual Asia and eventually got my first job there too. I enjoyed being a technical support person but I only stayed for 6 months since I was hired by a Telecoms company which became my company for the next 6 years. Of course, my work was still related to IT and the internet.
I am thankful how the Internet has become a part of my life. Even until today, it has helped me connect with other moms through blogs and allowed me to reconnect with some old friends through Facebook. Internet has also allowed me to connect with people who I admire through Twitter. It helps me stay connected and helps us in our homeschooling adventures too.
I always thank the Lord for allowing me to utilize the power and benefits of the internet in my life.
